New website now live!
Hi guys. After many, many hours work we have finally published our new website which should make it a lot easier for you folk to navigate around and find what you’re looking for. You can keep up to date with new products, reviews, announcements and stuff via our news section. Our online store is back up but is just in the catalogue stage, you still can’t purchase online. But that feature is coming soon! Have a look around, if you have any comments and suggestions please feel free to get in touch. We appreciate any feedback you have for us.
Once again we would like to thank you for your patience during this transition.
From the Walch Optics team.
Coming disruptions to walchoptics.com.au.
Hello dear customers.
Over the next few days there will be some disruption to the walchoptics.com.au website as we migrate over to our new website. The website will go down and for a time and not be viewable. After that you will be able to see our brand new website which will be much more powerful. Online sales will be more secure and easier to complete. Our second-hand catalogue will be brought back up-to-date. Expect more news, more information and reviews and even interviews with some of our customers. Thank you for all your support and patience as we make this important upgrade.
IMPORTANT ! Online Store Temporarily Closed.
Hi folks. Our online store is temporarily closed. We are working on a new website behind the scenes and will not be updating this website any longer. Well, except to announce important news and we will attempt to keep our prices up to date. But for now you cannot make purchases on our website. Fear not, our shiny new website is not far away and will be both easier for us to run, and much better for you to use to for shopping and information.
Kindest regards,
Daniel Butcher.
Walch Optics web administrator.

Walch Optics Gift Certificates – Hot off the press.
[twocol_one]
Our newly redesigned gift certificates have just arrived from the printers hot off the press. Just in time for Christmas.
[/twocol_one]
[twocol_one_last]
Now you can give your photographer friends or family members a photographic gift without the stress of working out what they need for their kit. Thanks Walch Optics!
These certificates feature sophisticated anti-forgery technology designed especially for Walch Optics. We employ the use of a very special printer known as a laser fax-copier. This rare machine gives the print an exclusive finish which cannot be replicated by any other type of printer and is easy to identify, even for amateurs. Design and styling flourishes such as ‘lines’ and ‘words’ will deter even the best forgers and cannot be produced without advanced software technology known as Adobe Illustrator. Finally we use a rare paper type called “Reflex Carbon Neutral Ultra White” which give the certificates their unique feel.

Walch Optics Christmas Tree UPDATE:
[twocol_one]
[/twocol_one]
[twocol_one_last]
Well it has been an exciting week for the Walch Optics Christmas tree. The main source of this excitement has been the addition of some nifty Nikon camera decorations. The cameras are silver and red coloured. (very Christmassy) Not sure if this is a world exclusive like the aperture decorations, we have been in touch with Guinness, but no response as yet. We also asked them if this was the world’s tallest Christmas tree but alas that honour goes to a Christmas tree built in Mexico last year standing at 110.35 meters tall. Ours must a be a close second.

Nikon Df now available for pre-order.
[threecol_one]
[/threecol_one]
[threecol_one]
Well the Nikon Df has been announced and we are expecting stock about mid-december. This beautiful camera camera combines the classic styling of a Nikon FE type SLR, with the latest digital capabilities of the Nikon D4. Aimed at photography aficionados with a sense of style and simplicity the Df looks like it’s going to become it’s very own modern classic.

You can read up more about the specs and pre-order your camera online here for the body only and here for the kit. The body only is going for an opening price of just $3150, or with the limited edition 50mm f1.4 lens for $3450 at the time of publishing. If you prefer, call us on 03 6223 8855 to pre-order.

‘Tis the season for baubles and apertures – A world first.
[threecol_one]
[/threecol_one]
[threecol_one]
Today we put up our Christmas tree on the front counter just like we do every year but with a little twist. I can quite confidently say that this is probably the only Christmas tree in the entire world right now that is decorated with lens aperture assemblies.
Somebody call Guinness. We also decorated the tree with little red pointy house shaped thingos that are advertising Canon’s “Summer Cashback” promotion.
[/threecol_one]
[threecol_one_last]
This is a first for us but I’s bet there is probably at least a couple of other Christmas trees sporting these decorations around the world as it is a national campaign. You will also find our regular gold and blue ball string type tinsel which I don’t think looks as nice as regular tinsel and the gold baubles which are pretty classic. Only one present under the tree so far this year, hopefully some more will accumulate before the silly season gets really silly.

[/threecol_one]
[threecol_one_last]
Basically it’s $200 off the 5D, 6D and $150 off some other DSLRs. And a few bucks off some compact cameras. Happy days! So you just buy the camera off us as normal, then fill out the online form with canon, including a scan/photo of your receipt to receive your cash back via EFTPOS. Too easy!

[twocol_one]
[/twocol_one]
[twocol_one_last]
Starting on November 1, Canon Australia photographic equipment will be covered by a local 24 month warranty. Warranty covers manufacturing faults and component failure. The warranty covers equipment purchased through the official outlets of Canon Australia including Walch Optics but does not cover equipment purchased from overseas. If you do ever have any warranty issue Walch Optics will send your equipment to Canon free of charge if it was purchased from us, or if we can, we may even be able to deal with the issue on the spot. Remember if you have any issues, please come in and see us. For more details on Canon’s warranty chick this out.
Basically, this means buying local is now an even better idea. Bonza.
